High-speed chase in Kingsford ends in Wisconsin

KINGSFORD — A person has been arrested after leading law enforcement on a high-speed chase in two counties that ended across the Wisconsin border.

The pursuit began around 2:46 a.m. in Kingsford when the driver refused to pull over for a traffic violation, according to a Kingsford Public Safety news release.

The Florence County Sheriff’s Department was able to disable the vehicle with stop sticks in Wisconsin. The driver then fled on foot but was quickly caught and arrested.

The driver will face criminal charges in Michigan for fleeing and eluding, resisting and obstructing arrest and driving without a license, Kingsford Public Safety reported.

Two passengers in the vehicle also were taken into custody and later released.

The names of the individuals involved have not been given out at this time.

The KPSD was also assisted by the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Department and the Iron Mountain Police Department.
