Food, Fun & Fitness program planned in Florence County

FLORENCE, Wis. — The Florence County UW-Extension office and its partners will offer a number of summer activities to area youth.

Brochures are now available for the Food, Fun & Fitness program.

FFF is a four-week day camp at both Florence Elementary School and the Northeast Wisconsin Technical Colleges Woodland Building in Aurora, Wis. For more than 20 years, children entering first through fifth grade in the fall have experienced a day filled with an array of activities that engage their imagination, unleash their creativity and connect them with their universe.

This years theme will be Lets Grow Some Heroes. In addition to lunch, a light breakfast will be served at both sites. The cost is only $30 if registration is done before June 1.

The Florence County School District again will serve free meals at two sites this summer as part of the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Summer Food Program.

Florence Elementary School at 5844 Bill Anderson Drive in Florence will offer breakfast from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. and lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays in June and July, excluding the week of July 1.

The NWTC Woodland Building, 2030 Calvary Drive in Aurora, will serve breakfast from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. and lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays in June and July, following the FFF schedule.

The meals are free to all younger than age 18, regardless of race, color, national origin, age, gender or disability. There will be no discrimination in the course of meal service.
