Local invasive species group celebrates 10 years with event

FLORENCE, Wis. — In March of 2010, the Wild Rivers Invasive Species Coalition (WRISC) held their first Annual Partner Meeting and on Friday, June 7 they will celebrate a decade of invasive species management with the very same event.

he event will be held in the lower level meeting space of the Florence Natural Resource Center in Florence, WI. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. for the Program portion of the Annual Meeting which will run from 9 a.m. to noon. Attendees can stay for an optional lunch for $5 and the afternoon business portion of the meeting will continue at 1p.m. for the WRISC Board elections and meeting.

WRISC is a cooperative invasive species partnership that conducts invasive species education, outreach, and management in northeast Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan (Forest, Florence, Marinette, Dickinson, and Menominee counties). While the group operates through grant funding, WRISC Partners include federal, state, and local agencies, departments, and organizations, along with individual members and volunteers across the five county WRISC area.
