CRYSTAL FALLS — Two men were seriously injured in an ATV crash Saturday in Iron County, officials said.

The crash was reported about 12:14 p.m. Saturday on U.S. 141 near Townline Road in Hematite Township, according to the Iron County Sheriff’s Office. The ATV was traveling in the ditch alongside the highway when the driver, 25-year-old Cody McGregor of Crystal Falls, lost control of the vehicle and it rolled twice, ejecting him.

McGregor was airlifted to Aspirus Wausau Hospital in Wausau, Wis., for treatment of his injuries. His passenger, 29-year-old Travis Hoenig, was belted in and not ejected but was sent to the Wausau hospital as well, the sheriff’s office stated in a news release.

Both alcohol and speed are believed to be factors in the accident. The Iron County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Michigan State Police, Aspirus Medivac, Amasa Fire Department and Crystal Falls Fire Department.
