Woman dies after crash in Marinette County

MARINETTE, Wis. — A 45-year-old Athelstane, Wis., woman died Sunday from injuries sustained in a two-vehicle crash in May in the town of Stephenson, said Marinette County Sheriff Jerry Sauve.

Jennifer R. Vania died at a Green Bay hospital from complications of her injuries, Sauve said. Vania was a passenger in a northbound vehicle that hit the shoulder then crossed the centerline and collided with a southbound vehicle at 5:49 p.m. May 29 on County Trunk A near Jazwinski Road, the sheriff said.

A female passenger in the southbound vehicle was transported with possible serious injuries, he added.

Investigation is continuing by the Marinette County Sheriff’s Office and no further details were provided. It is the county’s third traffic fatality of the year.

The sheriff’s office was assisted by Coleman Fire, Crivitz Fire, Crivitz Rescue, Wausaukee Rescue, Bay Area Medical Center paramedics, Wisconsin State Patrol and the Marinette County Medical Examiner’s Office.
