The concert will begin at 7 p.m.

The theme for this year’s concert is “Sing! Sing a Song!”

The addition of a 22-member children’s chorus is new to the summer concert series this year. They will be featured on the theme song as well as songs from “The Sound of Music.”

This summer the chorus is made up of 43 voices who are dedicated to making this concert excellent and upbeat. The group consists of many veteran members as well as some new members. The summer concert is under the direction of Crystal Hogan and accompanied on piano by Janice Van Gasse.

The children’s chorus is under the direction of Dawn Kranz and a many instrumentalists will accompany the program. Featured instrumentalists include Shelton Span on drums, John Estes on bass, Jason Ocasio on guitar, Barb Rice on trumpet, Nancy deKoster on clarinet and Lois Outcelt on flute. Vocal soloists and duets will be featured to bring variety to the program.

The performance is more than a concert; it’s a bit of Americana complete with the view of the park, lake and sunset. There is no charge. You will need to supply your own lawn chair or blanket and feel free to enjoy a picnic supper while you enjoy the concert. You might want to bring an umbrella in the case of a shower.

In the event of severe weather, any changes will be announced at http://www.communitychorus.org and on the Dickinson County Community Chorus Facebook page. The alternate location is the Presbyterian Church in Kingsford and the concert will be delayed by 15 minutes to accommodate the change in venue.

The Dickinson County Community Chorus has been in existence for 53 years. The group has a long standing standard of excellence in choral music.
