NORWAY -- The Norway Youth Advisory Committee has won the Fundraiser of the Year Award from the Council of Michigan Foundations for its "Color Our School Pink" campaign.
The month-long campaign raised money for the local Dickinson County Cancer Unit Loan Closet. It included selling "Norway Schools Support Breast Cancer Awareness" bracelets and having local salon stylists offer pink hair extensions for a donation.
Some of the Norway High School YAC students participated June 21 in the 27th annual Youth Grantmakers Summer Leadership Conference at Central Michigan University in Mount Pleasant.
They enjoyed a weekend of youth philanthropy, with breakout sessions, speakers and activities.
It included empowering lessons, best practices, strategies to deepen their grant-making skills and connecting with more than 300 youth grantmakers from across the state, The Norway Youth Advisory Committee is an affiliate of the Norway Area Community Foundation and the Dickinson Area Community Foundation.
