IM woman’s death ruled accidental drowning

SPREAD EAGLE — The Iron Mountain woman who was found floating Saturday in the Menominee River in Spread Eagle has been identified as Robin Dean, according to Florence County Sheriff Dan Miller.

The death has been ruled an accidental drowning, Miller stated in a release.

The 52-year-old woman was found face-down in the water at the Vagabond Park boat launch just after 4 p.m., according to an earlier news release from the sheriff’s office.

Dean had returned from a boat ride with a male acquaintance and was left waiting at the dock while the man went to the parking lot to retrieve his vehicle and trailer, the sheriff’s office stated. When the man returned a few minutes later, he discovered Dean in the water.

He was able to get Dean onto the dock and perform CPR, the release stated, but Dean was pronounced dead at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain.
