Marquette woman awaits pre-trial conference on Dickinson drug charges
IRON MOUNTAIN — A Marquette woman facing drug charges after a traffic stop in July pleaded not guilty Wednesday in Dickinson County Circuit Court.
Toni Bressette, 32, is charged with possession of methamphetamine, a felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison; furnishing contraband to prisoners, a five-year felony; and possession of a controlled substance analogue, a two-year felony.
Bressette is also charged with operating with a license suspended, revoked or denied, second, a one-year misdemeanor; and operating an unregistered vehicle, a 90-day misdemeanor.
In a separate file, Bressette is charged with breaking and entering a building with intent, a felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison.
Bressette is charged as a two-time habitual offender in both files and could serve 1 1/2 times the maximum sentence if convicted.
According to the criminal complaint, Bressette was stopped in Sagola Township while driving an unregistered vehicle on July 5. Troopers from the Michigan State Police reported Bressette’s license had been suspended.
During a search of Bressette’s vehicle, troopers found suspected methamphetamine in the glove box, a pipe with residue in her purse and a suspected hydrocodone pill on the driver’s seat, the complaint states.
During booking, troopers reportedly found suspected methamphetamine on Bressette’s person, who then identified it as such.
According to the second complaint, several items in Bressette’s vehicle — which included a hunting license — were taken from a West Branch Township camp in November and were identified after troopers contacted the owner of the license.
A pre-trial conference is set for Sept. 23.
Bonds are continued in the amount of $15,000 and $2,000 cash, surety, or ten percent.
