Three local graduates receive scholarships
MARQUETTE –The Marquette Builders Exchange has awarded six $1,000 scholarships to recent Upper Peninsula high school graduates who are furthering their education in the fields of construction. All of these students excelled in classwork, extra-curricular activities, volunteerism, and work ethic.
The students are:
— Jacob Maxon, Iron Mountain High School, attending Michigan Tech University to receive a degree in general engineering.
— Joseph Roell, North Dickinson County School, attending Michigan Tech University to study civil engineering.
— Noah Jacko, Kingsford High School, attending Bay College to obtain a certificate in welding, followed by a degree in industrial maintenance/construction management at NMU.
— Austin Brewer, Westwood High School, attending Northern Michigan University to pursue a career as an electrical power technician.
— Theo Kumpala, Negaunee High School, attending Michigan Tech University to pursue a career in general engineering.
— Thomas LaFave, Ishpeming High School, attending Northern Michigan University to obtain a degree in construction/building technologies.
The Marquette Builders Exchange has awarded over 115 scholarships over the past 35 years to recent high school graduates.
