Two injured in ATV crash Saturday in Dickinson County

NORWAY TOWNSHIP — One man was airlifted by helicopter to the Marquette General Hospital and another was transported to Dickinson County Memorial Hospital after an ATV rollover crash Saturday evening near the Carney Lake Campground.

Troopers from the Michigan State Police Iron Mountain Post were called to Carney Lake Road about 6:55 p.m. after two males, ages 26 and 29, lost control of an ATV while negotiating a curve. The ATV left the roadway and struck a tree, rolling several times and ejecting both men, the release said.

The passenger was later released after being treated at DCHS, the MSP said.

Alcohol and speed are believed to be factors in the crash, which remains under investigation, according to the release.

Troopers were assisted by the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Department, North Alert Ambulance Service, Integrity Care EMS, the Norway Township Fire Department, the Breitung Township Fire Department and Valley Med Flight.
