Kingsford City approved truck purchase

KINGSFORD — The Kingsford City Council this week approved buying a utility truck from Town & Country Sales in Quinnesec.

The cost is $39,334.47 after a $3,204 deduction because the steel truck bed will not be painted, City Manager Anthony Edlebeck told the council in making the recommendation.

Bids were opened at the Jan. 6 meeting from Town & Country, Ewald Hartford Ford in Hartford, Wis. and Edwards Chevrolet in Iron Mountain. It was the lowest bid.

The council approved a budget amendment for $27,153 for a truck purchased last year and another of $9,334 for exceeding the $30,000 budgeted for this truck.

In other business, the council;

— Approved a request from the Kingsford Little League organization to install donated electronic scoreboards at two Lodal Park fields. Maintenance costs will be covered by selling banners at the fields, said Daniel Cram of the Little League group. The scoreboards will have LED lights and can be controlled by a remote, he said. The fields are used primarily by girls softball teams.

— Plan to schedule a personnel committee meeting to discuss applications for the city manager’s position and other personnel matters. Last year Edlebeck told the board he would like the city to start advertising for a city manager so one would be in place when he decided to retire.

— Received a thank-you letter from the Dickinson Area Economic Development Alliance for the city’s continued support.
