Norway council sends on senior center funds
NORWAY — The Norway City Council transferred Monday $7,805.28 collected in winter taxes to the Norway-Vulcan Senior Center.
Voters in 2018 approved 0.5 mills — or 50 cents per $1,000 of taxable value — to fund the center’s operations, maintenance, meals, activities and other services.
Because the center is a non-governmental agency, the council was required to authorize the transfer of the public tax funds.
In other business, the council:
— Appointed Jason Morgan to a three-year term on the Parks and Recreation Committee.
— Authorized selling renewable energy credits to Escanaba for $20,623.75, or $1.25 per REC.
— Approved a contract with Ryan Gordon of Stephens Real Estate to provide marketing and sales assistance for city-owned properties for a commission of 6%, or $2,500, whichever is greater.
— Purchased four tires for the Department of Public Works’ front-end loader from Pomp’s in Iron Mountain for $7,577.60.
