IM man pleads no contest to selling meth

CHARLES MAYNARD

IRON MOUNTAIN — A Iron Mountain man accused of selling methamphetamine in September pleaded no contest Friday in Dickinson County Circuit Court.

Charles Maynard, 37, was convicted of the delivery or manufacture of a controlled substance, a felony punishable by up to 20 years in prison.

Maynard also was convicted as a three-time habitual offender and faces as many as 40 years in prison.

According to the criminal complaint, the KIND Drug Enforcement Team arrested Maynard for selling methamphetamine to a confidential informant Sept. 1 in Iron Mountain.

Maynard initially was charged in two separate files with a total of two counts of the delivery or manufacture of a controlled substance as a four-time habitual offender.

In exchange for his guilty plea, Chief Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Kristin Kass dismissed one file and agreed to reduce the habitual offender notice.

Sentencing is set for April 6.
