WHITEFISH TOWNSHIP — A Hart man died Tuesday in a snowmobile crash in Chippewa County.

Zackary Snider, 28, was traveling alone on Trail 452 near Wide Water Road in Whitefish Township at about 12:41 p.m. when he lost control of his snowmobile, according to a release from the Michigan State Police Sault Ste. Marie Post.

A preliminary investigation revealed Snider went off the trail and crashed into a tree. He was pronounced dead at the site, the release stated.

The crash remains under investigation. Troopers were assisted by Whitefish Fire and EMS and the Michigan Department of Natural Resources.
