Voters on Tuesday approved requests for millage renewals across Dickinson County but turned down several proposals for new millages.

In the Norway-Vulcan School District, a proposed sinking fund levy of up to 3 mills, or $3 per $1,000 of taxable value, fell short by just 15 votes.

In a county-wide vote, a proposed levy of 0.1 mills, or 10 cents per $1,000 of taxable value, for the Dickinson Conservation District was denied.

Breen Township voters turned down a proposed parks and recreation millage of 0.5 mills, or 50 cents per $1,000 of taxable value.

Also defeated was a request in Norway Township for a new 1-mill levy, or $1 per $1,000 of taxable value, for road improvements and repairs at the Norway Township Cemetery.

A request for an additional levy for the Dickinson-Iron District Health Department of 0.05 mills, or 5 cents per $1,000 of taxable value, was approved in the overall vote, even though Dickinson County voters came out against it.

In Iron County, voters approved a new levy of 0.075 mills, or 7.5 cents per $1,000 of taxable value, to help fund veteran services in the county.
