By Brian Christensen 1 min read

NORWAY -- The Norway City Council on Monday vacated the right-of-way between a number of properties in two of the city's Brier Hill Mining Company additions.

Lots 1, 2 and 3 and lots 8, 9 and 10 of the Block 5 Brier Hill Mining Company's Addition and lots 1-5 and 6-10 of the Block 4 Brier Hill Mining Company's Addition were vacated so the area can be used for the city's new salt shed.

No one attended the council's public hearing on the matter. The only adjacent property owner who responded to city's notification letter about the change did not object.

In other business, the council:

-- Approved a defined city employee contribution plan with Voya Financial. The city will match employee contributions of up to 6% of their income, City Manager Ray Anderson said.

-- Authorized $1,676.27 to fix a leaking steering box and loose carrier bearing in a 2006 International Harvester truck used by the Department of Public Works.
