A L’Anse woman accused of multiple drug-related offenses pleaded not guilty Tuesday in Florence County Circuit Court.

Jessica Ochoa, 28, is charged with second degree recklessly endangering safety, a felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison; possession with intent to deliver heroin, a 15-year felony; and possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine and schedule IV drugs, both six-year penalties.

Ochoa also is charged with possession of methamphetamine, narcotic drugs and tetrahydrocannabinols, each a felony punishable by up to three years and six months in prison; and possession of drug paraphernalia, a 30-day misdemeanor.

According to the criminal complaint, Florence County deputies April 29 found an unresponsive woman in an Aurora, Wis., parking lot.

Taken to Dickinson County Memorial Hospital, the woman later told deputies she had injected heroin at an Aurora residence and named Ochoa as her supplier.

Deputies then searched the Aurora home, where they found Ochoa and the male homeowner.

Ochoa had methamphetamine, heroin, Ambien and $1,690 in cash, according to the complaint. Officers found marijuana and more methamphetamine in the house as well as multiple used syringes, a scale and other paraphernalia.

Ochoa said she owned the drugs and paraphernalia but denied selling heroin to the hospitalized woman, according to the complaint. Ochoa claimed she arranged for the woman to receive the heroin free of charge.

A preliminary hearing is set for Tuesday.
