DAGGETT TOWNSHIP — A one-vehicle traffic crash claimed the life of a Daggett man Saturday.

The victim was Luis Angel Maldonado Rosario, 29.

At about 11:17 p.m., deputies of the Menominee County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a traffic crash on U.S. 41 north of Belgiumtown Road in Daggett Township. A four-door passenger car was northbound on the highway when it lost control, crossed the centerline, left the roadway and collided with multiple trees.

Rosario, the vehicle’s sole occupant, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A Menominee County Sheriff’s Office accident investigator was called to the crash and the resulting investigation showed speed and alcohol were factors.

The Menominee County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Daggett Township Fire Department, Mid County Rescue Squad and Extrication and Michigan State Police.
