DCHS has another COVID-19 positive for Dickinson County

Dickinson County Healthcare System has had a fourth county resident test positive for COVID-19 at its facilities.

The new case was posted Wednesday on DCHS’s “Local COVID-19 Updates” page. No further details were provided. The state’s data site did add a probable case to the county’s total Saturday.

Elsewhere in the Upper Peninsula, Alger County has a second COVID-19 positive after not having its first case surface until early last week.

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services on Wednesday had Baraga and Keweenaw counties with one confirmed virus case each; Alger County two confirmed cases; Chippewa County two confirmed cases and two probable; Iron and Luce counties three confirmed cases; Schoolcraft County four confirmed cases; Gogebic County five confirmed cases and a death; Dickinson County six confirmed cases, one probable and two deaths; Houghton and Mackinac counties eight confirmed cases; Menominee County nine confirmed cases; Delta County 18 confirmed cases, three probable and two deaths; and Marquette County 59 confirmed cases and 11 deaths.

The MDHHS also earlier had separately had prison inmates as positive in Luce and Chippewa counties.

The Upper Peninsula as of Wednesday had 130 confirmed positives and 16 deaths. Ontonagon remains the only county in the Upper Peninsula and in Michigan not to have at least one positive coronavirus test.

The MDHHS statewide reported 204 confirmed new COVID-19 cases Wednesday for a total of 60,393 to date. The state had only two new deaths for 5,792 to date.

Along with the four Dickinson County residents testing positive at its facilities, DCHS on Wednesday showed five cases from other counties; those counties are not identified. DCHS has tested 906 people for COVID-19, with nine positive, 868 negative and 29 results still pending. DCHS noted there are several additional sources of testing in Dickinson County.

The Dickinson-Iron District Health Department on Wednesday lists six reported cases in Dickinson County with two deaths, three recoveries and one active case; and three reported cases in Iron County, all still active.

Wisconsin counties in the region showed no change in COVID-19 numbers Wednesday. The state Department of Health Services’ data site listed Marinette County with 40 cases and three deaths; Forest County with 34 cases and two deaths; Vilas County with eight cases; Florence County with two cases; and Iron County with two cases and a death.

Statewide, Wisconsin on Wednesday had recorded 23,454 cases of COVID-19, with 712 deaths.
