Dickinson County has reported a sixth case of COVID-19, its first new case in almost a month, local health officials confirmed Saturday.
The Dickinson-Iron District Health Department posted on its Facebook page that it had a new, active case in Dickinson County. It did not provide further information about the case. Dickinson County last had a new confirmed positive May 8. The DIDHD on Saturday also had two active cases in Iron County.
Elsewhere in the region, Wisconsin health officials Saturday listed a third COVID-19 death in Marinette County.
For the Upper Peninsula, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services data site Sunday showed Baraga County with one confirmed virus case; Iron County two confirmed cases; Chippewa County two confirmed cases and one probable; Luce County three confirmed cases; Schoolcraft County four confirmed cases; Gogebic County five confirmed cases and a death; Dickinson County six confirmed cases and two deaths; Houghton County seven confirmed cases and one probable; Mackinac and Menominee counties eight confirmed cases each; Delta County 17 confirmed cases, three probable and two deaths; and Marquette County 57 confirmed cases and 11 deaths.
The MDHHS also earlier had separately listed prison inmates as positive in Luce and Chippewa counties.
The U.P. as of Sunday afternoon had 122 confirmed positive cases, five probable cases and 16 deaths, according to state figures.
Keweenaw, Alger and Ontonagon counties have yet to report a COVID-19 case in the Upper Peninsula and are the only counties in Michigan not to have at least one positive coronavirus test.
The MDHHS statewide reported 121 confirmed new COVID-19 cases Sunday for a total of 58,870 to date. The state had four new deaths for 5,656 to date.
Dickinson County Healthcare System on Sunday continued to show only three county residents testing positive at its facilities, with two deaths, along with five positives from other counties; those counties were not identified. DCHS had tested 707 people for COVID-19, with eight positive, 673 negative and 26 results still pending. DCHS noted there are several additional sources of testing in Dickinson County.
For Wisconsin counties in the region, the state Department of Health Services' COVID-19 data site Sunday listed Marinette County with 36 cases and three deaths; Forest County with 33 cases and two deaths; Vilas County with eight cases; Florence County with two cases; and Iron County with two cases and a death.
No additional information was available on the new Marinette County death.
Statewide, Wisconsin on Sunday had recorded 20,835 cases of COVID-19, with 647 deaths.
