Iron County has fourth COVID-19 positive case

Iron County has a fourth confirmed case of COVID-19, local health officials report.

The new case earlier had been identified as being from Dickinson County. The Dickinson-Iron District Health Department indicated Thursday it was a new positive in Iron County.

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services on Thursday had Baraga and Keweenaw counties with one confirmed virus case each; Alger County two confirmed cases; Chippewa County two confirmed cases and one probable; Luce County three confirmed cases; Iron and Schoolcraft counties four confirmed cases; Gogebic County five confirmed cases and a death; Dickinson County six confirmed cases, one probable and two deaths; Houghton and Mackinac counties eight confirmed cases; Menominee County nine confirmed cases; Delta County 18 confirmed cases, three probable and two deaths; and Marquette County 59 confirmed cases and 11 deaths.

The MDHHS also earlier had separately had prison inmates as positive in Luce and Chippewa counties.

The Upper Peninsula as of Thursday had 132 confirmed positives and 16 deaths. Ontonagon remains the only county in the Upper Peninsula and in Michigan not to have at least one positive coronavirus test.

The MDHHS statewide reported 225 confirmed new COVID-19 cases Thursday for a total of 60,618 to date. The state had 26 new deaths for 5,818 to date.

Dickinson County Healthcare System on Thursday showed three cases from Dickinson County and seven cases from other counties; those counties are not identified. DCHS has tested 927 people for COVID-19, with 10 positive, 868 negative and 29 results still pending. DCHS noted there are several additional sources of testing in Dickinson County.

The Dickinson-Iron District Health Department today lists six reported cases in Dickinson County with two deaths, three recoveries and one active case; and four reported cases in Iron County, all still active.

For Wisconsin counties in the region, the state Department of Health Services’ data site Thursday added two new positives in Vilas County, bringing the total number of cases to 10. The other Wisconsin counties showed no change in COVID-19 numbers: Marinette County had 40 cases and three deaths; Forest County had 34 cases and two deaths; Florence County had two cases; and Iron County had two cases and a death.

Statewide, Wisconsin on Thursday had recorded 23,876 cases of COVID-19, with 719 deaths.
