Norway honors top students in Class of 2020

CARSON LAGINA

NORWAY — District officials have announced the top 10 scholars in the Norway High School Class of 2020.

They are:

— Carson James Lagina is the son of Sara Adams and James Lagina of Vulcan. He was student council treasurer, Youth Advisory Committee treasurer, Key Club secretary and Leo

Club treasurer. He was also in National Honor Society, Hi-Q, High School Bowl, Robotics, yearbook, and Spanish Club.

Lagina volunteered as well at the blood drives, tutored in middle school and worked part-time outside of school.

MARY SLAGLE

He plans to study actuarial science at Concordia University of Wisconsin.

— Mary Tami Slagle is the daughter of Tami Slagle and Tom Slagle of Norway. She was YAC president, Key Club president, Leo Club president, student council secretary and student coordinator of Red Cross Blood drives.

Slagle also participated in Big Brothers/Big Sisters, National Honor Society, Drama Club, yearbook, Spanish Club, Art Club and Vocal Jazz. She logged numerous volunteer hours for her school and community. In addition, she was in sideline cheer, competitive cheer and golf, and was a dance team member for 15 years.

Slagle plans to study radiation therapy at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.

— Allison Marie Olson is the daughter of Scott and Kim Olson of Norway. She participated in YAC, Key Club, Leo Club, Big Brothers/Big Sisters and National Honor Society. Outside of high school, she had two part-time jobs.

ALLISON OLSON

Olson plans to pursue a degree in environmental engineering at Michigan Technological University.

— Paige Nicole Chartier is the daughter of Paul and Michelle Chartier of Vulcan. She participated in YAC, Key Club, Drama Club, HOSA, Leo Club, National Honor Society and yearbook. She also was a student council representative and class council. Outside of school, she has been in dance for a long time and now teaches the younger students.

Chartier plans to seek a bachelor of science in nursing at Bellin College.

— Richard Alexander Heigl is the son of Cory and Dawn Heigl of Vulcan. He was a member of YAC, Key Club, student council, School Improvement Committee, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Leo Club, Spanish Club and National Honor Society. He also was on the Ski Team and the Trap and Skeet Team and worked part-time.

Heigl plans to pursue a mechanical engineering degree at Michigan Technological University.

PAIGE CHARTIER

— Trevor Joseph Dapoz is the son of David and Debbie Dapoz of Norway. He was student council president and participated in YAC, Key Club, Drama Club, yearbook, Spanish Club and Art Club. He was active as well in Leo Club, Hi-Q, Quiz Bowl, class council and National Honor Society.

He also worked a part-time job outside of high school.

Dapoz plans to pursue a business and finance degree at Bay College.

— Elizabeth Nicole Lofholm is daughter of Don and Jennifer Lofholm of Norway. She was a member of YAC, Key Club and Spanish Club. She also participated in volleyball, basketball, track, sideline cheer and competitive cheer, plus did one-on-one peer mentoring through the ISO.

Lofholm plans to take online classes through Bay College for one year and then transfer to the University of Central Florida to study nursing.

RICHARD HEIGL

— Callie Mae Paul is the daughter of Mary Beth Paul and David Paul of Norway. She participated in YAC, Key Club, Leo Club, class council, yearbook, Art Club, National Honor Society and Big Brothers/Big Sisters.

She also was in volleyball, basketball, track, sideline cheer and competitive cheer. She has volunteered in and out of school, plus had various part-time jobs.

Paul plans to study human biology on the pre-med track in the Lyman Briggs College of Math and Science at Michigan State University.

— Grace Ann Plante is daughter of B.J. and Trisha Plante of Norway. She was a junior class representative and participated in YAC, Key Club, Spanish Club, yearbook and Prom Committee. She also played basketball, volleyball and soccer.

Plante plans to pursue a bachelor of science in nursing at Bay College and the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay.

TREVOR DAPOZ

— Ethan Charles Sabotta is the son of Shaun and Miranda Sabotta of Iron Mountain. He played and was a leader in football and track. Outside of school, he has a part-time job and enjoys activities in the outdoors.

Sabotta plans to study mechanical engineering at Michigan Technological University.
