Iron Mountain’s football games versus Menominee canceled
IRON MOUNTAIN — Iron Mountain High School has canceled the varsity and jayvee football games versus Menominee for Thursday and Friday. Mountaineers athletic director Donny Bianco stated that the cancellation is due to a lack of numbers for the Iron Mountain varsity team and the Menominee jayvee team for the upcoming games.
Iron Mountain was originally scheduled to host Calumet in a Western Peninsula Athletic Conference Copper Division game Friday night, and the Maroons were scheduled to face Escanaba in a Great Northern Conference matchup. Both the Mountaineers and Maroons will take their forfeit wins from the Copperkings and Eskymos respectively, Bianco noted.
The Mountaineers are scheduled to play at Hancock on Oct. 9, but that game has been canceled as well.
