IRON MOUNTAIN — The third-ever Crafty Flea Market will offer an outdoor shopping venue for a wide variety of crafts, homemade goods and other items Saturday at Lake Antoine Park in Iron Mountain.

The open-air setting should allow people to make purchases from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. while still social distancing in this time of coronavirus precautions. Still, face masks are recommended to better protect vendors and customers.

“We have a little bit of everything for sale, from antiques to up-cycled items, pork rinds to elephant ears, many handmade crafts and a few direct sale companies. Come on out and spend the day with us,” said Jennifer Flynn, circulation manager for The Daily News.

The Crafty Flea Market is a combined fundraising effort by The Daily News’ Newspapers in Education, or NIE, and Lake Antoine Park Partners that benefits both non-profit programs. NIE provides area schools with newspapers that assist teachers and other educators, while Lake Antoine Park Partners aims to help beautify Lake Antoine Park.

Flynn said community support in the past has been outstanding. All 72 sites are sold out, she said, adding space no longer is available.

Some of the merchandise to be available includes handcrafted wood products, ceramics, antiques, jewelry, knitted and crocheted items, home decor, metalworks and wire art, fishing lures, jams and salsa, birdhouses and feeders, artworks, U.P. apparel, honey and maple syrup, along with representatives for direct sales companies such as Pampered Chef, Tupperware, Tastefully Simple and Perfectly Posh.

A complete list of crafters and vendors can be seen in an ad on page 8-A. For more information, contact Flynn at 906-774-2772, ext. 218. An information booth will be on the grounds Saturday in site No. 30.

The event will go on rain or shine, organizers said.

Concessions this year will be at site No. 65 through New Hope Church, which will serve burgers, hot dogs, fries and cheese curds, plus beverages.

Matilda’s Ears also will have elephant ears for sale at site No. 19, while Maddog & Eddie’s will offer kettle corn and pork rinds at site No. 26.

Sagola Township Sportsman Club will sell raffle tickets at the event for a Honda Pioneer 700 side-by-side UTV.

Amber Grassinger from the Dickinson-Iron Health Department will have a Lactation Station at site No. 15.

Admission is $2 per person, with no charge for ages 10 and younger, at the main entrance at N3393 Quinnesec-Lake Antoine Road. The park does have designated parking for the handicapped.

Starting at $2.99/week.
