Prosecutor releases activity report

IRON MOUNTAIN — Dickinson County Prosecutor Lisa M. Richards has released her office’s activity report for the month of August.

The office received 79 police reports from the five area law enforcement agencies and the Michigan Department of Natural Resources.

From the reports received, the office authorized 15 felony and 36 misdemeanor warrants. Eighteen warrant requests were reviewed and denied and three were resubmitted to the investigating agency with a request for further investigation.

Warrants authorized included nine for domestic violence or assault offenses, 12 for alcohol offenses, 10 for theft or property offenses, five for drug offenses, 18 for traffic offenses, one for criminal sexual conduct, one for furnishing contraband to prisoners, two for animal cruelty, one for escape, one for contributing to the delinquency of a minor, three for firearms violations, and one for being a fugitive from justice.

The office also drafted and submitted two abuse and neglect petitions, and five juvenile delinquency petitions were submitted to the probate court.

Throughout the month, there were 17 scheduled preliminary examinations resulting in 11 defendants being bound over to the circuit court for further proceedings, and 16 circuit court arraignments.

The office also conducted numerous bench trials, motion hearings, probation violation and show cause hearings.
