Florence County advises about virus exposure site

Florence County on Wednesday advised of a possible COVID-19 exposure site at a restaurant in Aurora, Wis.

The county health department was working with Bartoletti’s Supper Club, 976 County Road N, in releasing information about the exposure during business hours between Oct. 20 and 22.

“If you were at this business during the time period noted and have COVID symptoms, please contact your local health care provider for testing,” the department posted on its Facebook page Wednesday. No further information was released.

Florence County as of Monday has 210 confirmed COVID-19 positives, with 120 recovered, 83 still active and seven deaths. It did not update its figures Wednesday.

The Dickinson-Iron District Health Department on Wednesday reported 20 new COVID-19 cases in Dickinson County and three new cases in Iron County.

According to the DIDHD, Dickinson County on Wednesday had 638 confirmed COVID-19 positives and 30 probables, with 191 recovered, 19 deaths and 458 cases still active. For Iron County, the department had 408 confirmed cases and 36 probables, with 229 recovered, 22 deaths and 193 cases still active.

In the Upper Peninsula, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services’ COVID-19 data site Wednesday listed 178 new positives: 61 in Delta County; 30 in Marquette County; 18 in Dickinson County; 12 in Menominee and Baraga counties; eight in Luce County; six in Houghton County; five in Iron, Gogebic, Alger, Schoolcraft and Chippewa counties; three in Mackinac County; two in Ontonagon County; and one in Keweenaw County. The state also had one new death in Delta County to reach 24 there, though Public Health, Delta and Menominee Counties updated to 27 deaths Wednesday on its website.

In total for the U.P., the MDHHS on Wednesday had Keweenaw County with 20 confirmed cases and three probable; Luce County, 47 confirmed cases and 19 probable, plus one probable death; Schoolcraft County, 75 confirmed cases and six probable, plus one probable death; Baraga County, 87 confirmed cases, 14 probable and four deaths; Chippewa County, 89 confirmed cases and 72 probable; Alger County, 89 confirmed, 28 probable and one death; Ontonagon County, 91 confirmed and 15 probable; Mackinac County, 127 confirmed cases and 35 probable; Gogebic County, 290 confirmed cases and 123 probable, three confirmed deaths and six probable deaths; Iron County, 413 confirmed cases and 32 probable, 22 confirmed deaths and three probable; Dickinson County, 639 confirmed cases and 21 probable, 19 confirmed deaths and one probable; Menominee County, 648 confirmed cases, 81 probable and five deaths; Houghton County, 783 confirmed cases, 159 probable, eight confirmed deaths and one probable; Marquette County, 934 confirmed cases, 149 probable and 15 deaths; and Delta County, 1,120 confirmed cases and 143 probable, 24 confirmed deaths and three probable. State numbers are updated daily but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.

Using only the state figures Wednesday, the Upper Peninsula has had 5,452 confirmed COVID-19 cases to date and 101 deaths.

The MDHHS reported 3,271 confirmed new COVID-19 cases in Michigan on Wednesday for a total of 167,545 to date. The state added 18 new deaths on Wednesday for a total of 7,257.

For Wisconsin counties in the region, the state’s COVID-19 data site Wednesday had 29 new positives in Marinette County, 11 in Forest County, eight in Vilas County and one in Iron County. The state also reduced Florence County’s count by one, although the county’s Facebook page still showed 210 positives and seven deaths, one more than the state’s figures in each category.

The Wisconsin Department of Health Services on Wednesday had Marinette County with 1,738 confirmed cases, 119 probable cases and 13 deaths; Vilas County, 563 confirmed, 20 probable and six deaths; Forest County, 475 confirmed, 13 probable and 11 deaths; Florence County, 209 confirmed, 13 probable and six deaths; and Iron County, 191 confirmed, 30 probable and four deaths. As with the Michigan data, the state numbers are updated daily but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.

Wisconsin had 3,815 new positives Wednesday for a total of 210,126. The state added 45 new COVID-19 deaths Wednesday to reach 1,897.
