Lake Antoine entrance paving project approved
IRON MOUNTAIN — The north entrance to Lake Antoine Park will be improved under a contract authorized Thursday by the Dickinson County Board.
Midwest Asphalt & Gravel of Iron Mountain will do the paving work for $35,344, which includes installing a new culvert, said County Controller Brian Bousley.
In other action during a special meeting held in the correctional center conference room, the board:
— Directed Bousley to seek an incident command vehicle for the sheriff’s department, with the purchase still subject to board approval. The last vehicle was acquired in 1981. Several types of vehicles — including trucks and vans — are commonly used as command vehicles to provide on-site emergency communications and support.
— Agreed to seek estimates on the installation of guardrails near the Pine Mountain ski jump scaffolding. The purpose is to ensure safety and mitigate damage to the jump.
— Made preliminary plans for construction of hangar at Ford Airport. The first step is to gain approval from the Michigan Treasury Department to assume debt for the project, which would be repaid by leasing the facility.
