Local health officials Monday reported a new COVID-19 death in both Dickinson and Iron counties.
The Dickinson-Iron District Health Department provided no further information on the deaths, as has been the practice to protect the family's privacy.
Dickinson County on Monday had 609 confirmed COVID-19 positives and 20 probables, with 167 recovered, 18 deaths and 444 cases still active. For Iron County, the department had 402 confirmed cases and 34 probables, with 209 recovered, 20 deaths and 207 cases still active, according to the DIDHD.
In the Upper Peninsula, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services' COVID-19 data site listed 194 new positives since Saturday, when the state last updated its numbers: 40 in Marquette County, 35 in Delta County, 24 in Gogebic County, 23 in Dickinson County, 18 in Menominee County, 17 in Iron County, 14 in Houghton County, seven in Chippewa County, six in Ontonagon County, four in Schoolcraft County; three in Baraga County; and one each in Alger, Mackinac and Keweenaw counties. The state also added two deaths in Dickinson and Menominee counties and one in Iron County.
In total for the U.P., the MDHHS since Saturday had Keweenaw County with 18 confirmed cases and one probable; Luce County, 36 confirmed cases and 11 probable; Schoolcraft County, 65 confirmed cases and four probable, plus one probable death; Baraga County, 70 confirmed cases, 13 probable and four deaths; Chippewa County, 78 confirmed cases and 56 probable; Alger County, 81 confirmed, 26 probable and one death; Ontonagon County, 87 confirmed and nine probable; Mackinac County, 123 confirmed cases and 32 probable; Gogebic County, 283 confirmed cases and 111 probable, three confirmed deaths and four probable deaths; Iron County, 406 confirmed cases and 32 probable, 21 confirmed deaths and two probable; Dickinson County, 613 confirmed cases and 14 probable, 19 confirmed deaths and one probable; Menominee County, 620 confirmed cases, 78 probable and five deaths; Houghton County, 769 confirmed cases, 150 probable, eight confirmed deaths and one probable; Marquette County, 876 confirmed cases, 139 probable and 14 deaths; and Delta County, 1,039 confirmed cases and 139 probable, 22 confirmed deaths and two probable. State numbers are updated daily but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.
Using only the state figures, the Upper Peninsula has had 5,164 confirmed COVID-19 cases to date and 97 deaths.
The MDHHS reported 3,881 confirmed new COVID-19 cases in Michigan since Saturday for a total of 161,907 to date. The state added 29 new deaths since Saturday for a total of 7,211.
For Wisconsin counties in the region, the state's COVID-19 data site Monday had 22 new cases in Marinette County, five in Forest and Vilas counties, four in Florence County and one in Iron County.
The Wisconsin Department of Health Services on Monday had Marinette County with 1,650 confirmed cases, 116 probable cases and 11 deaths; Vilas County, 543 confirmed, 20 probable and five deaths; Forest County, 449 confirmed, 16 probable and 10 deaths; Iron County, 184 confirmed, 23 probable and two deaths; and Florence County, 210 confirmed, 12 probable and seven deaths. As with the Michigan data, the state numbers are updated daily but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.
Wisconsin had 2,883 new positives Monday for a total of 201,049. The state added 10 new COVID-19 deaths Monday to reach 1,788.
