St. John resigns as Verso’s CEO

MIAMISBURG, Ohio — Adam St. John, a former manager at the Quinnesec pulp and paper mill, has stepped down as Verso Corp.’s president and CEO, the company announced Thursday.

Randy Nebel, a member of the board of directors, will serve as interim president and CEO. The board will start searching for a permanent president and CEO and will use a national executive search firm to help find qualified candidates.

In June, Verso decided to reduce production capacity by indefinitely idling mills in Duluth, Minn., and Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.

Its mills in Quinnesec and Escanaba remain open.

Nebel joined Verso in 2019 and previously served as executive vice president of integrated packing at KapStone Paper and Packaging Corp. in Northbrook, Ill.

St. John is a 27-year veteran of the paper industry.
