Dickinson, Iron have 21 new cases combined

The Dickinson-Iron District Health Department reported a relatively quiet day for COVID-19 activity Wednesday, with no new deaths in the two-county area.

As of Wednesday afternoon, Dickinson County had 16 new confirmed cases, one probable case and four considered recovered from the virus. Iron County had five new cases and four recovered.

The DIDHD on Wednesday had Dickinson County at 1,821 confirmed positives and 128 probable cases, with 929 recovered, 56 deaths and 964 cases still active. Iron County has had 728 confirmed cases and 40 probables, with 533 recovered, 33 deaths and 202 cases still active, according to the DIDHD.

Across the Upper Peninsula, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services’ coronavirus data site Wednesday listed 139 new confirmed positives: 27 in Delta County; 20 in Gogebic County; 19 in Dickinson County; 17 in Menominee County; 15 in Houghton County; 13 in Marquette County; 10 in Chippewa County; six in Iron County; four in Baraga County; three in Schoolcraft County; two in Mackinac County; and one each in Keweenaw, Luce and Alger counties. Marquette County had the region’s only new death.

In total for the U.P., the MDHHS on Wednesday had Keweenaw County at 65 confirmed cases and 14 probable, and one death and one probable death; Luce County, 122 confirmed cases and 56 probable; Alger County, 171 confirmed, 87 probable and one death, one probable; Schoolcraft County, 187 confirmed cases and 14 probable, two deaths and one probable; Mackinac County, 239 confirmed cases and 100 probable, one death; Ontonagon County, 269 confirmed, 27 probable and 14 deaths, one probable; Chippewa County, 426 confirmed cases and 595 probable, and six deaths, two probable; Baraga County, 440 confirmed cases, 90 probable and 24 deaths; Gogebic County, 653 confirmed cases and 260 probable, 11 confirmed deaths and 14 probable deaths; Iron County, 725 confirmed cases and 38 probable, 31 confirmed deaths and five probable; Menominee County, 1,302 confirmed cases, 166 probable and 20 deaths; Houghton County, 1,422 confirmed cases, 361 probable, 13 confirmed deaths and three probable; Dickinson County, 1,818 confirmed cases and 128 probable, 49 confirmed deaths and 10 probable; Delta County, 2,351 confirmed cases and 346 probable, 53 confirmed deaths and 12 probable; and Marquette County, 2,854 confirmed cases, 344 probable and 38 deaths, one probable. State numbers are updated daily but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.

Using only the state’s figures Wednesday, the Upper Peninsula has had 13,044 confirmed COVID-19 cases to date and 264 deaths.

The MDHHS on Wednesday reported 4,905 confirmed new COVID-19 cases in Michigan for a total of 415,200 to date. The state added 75 new deaths Wednesday to reach 10,213.

For Wisconsin counties in the region, the state’s COVID-19 data site Wednesday showed 24 new confirmed positives in Marinette County, 12 in Vilas County, three in Florence County and two in Forest County; Iron County’s count was reduced by one.

The Wisconsin Department of Health Services on Wednesday had Marinette County with 3,199 confirmed cases, 284 probable cases and 36 deaths; Vilas County, 1,378 confirmed, 41 probable and 15 deaths, two probable deaths; Forest County, 766 confirmed, 48 probable and 19 deaths, two probable; Iron County, 380 confirmed, 79 probable and 10 deaths, six probable; and Florence County, 367 confirmed, 24 probable and 12 deaths. As with the Michigan data, the state numbers are updated daily but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.

Wisconsin had 3,619 new positives Wednesday for a total of 422,065 confirmed COVID-19 cases. The state added 81 deaths Wednesday to reach 3,887.
