Dickinson reports 6 new virus cases; Iron, 2
Both Dickinson and Iron counties Wednesday showed recovered COVID-19 cases in numbers far exceeding new positives, local health officials reported.
Dickinson County had six new confirmed positives and 38 recovered cases Wednesday, while Iron County had two new confirmed cases and 11 residents reclassified as recovered, the Dickinson-Iron District Health Department posted on Facebook.
The DIDHD on Wednesday listed Dickinson County at 1,896 confirmed positives and 154 probable cases, with 1,313 recovered, 60 deaths and 677 cases still active. Iron County has had 742 confirmed cases and 44 probables, with 594 recovered, 34 deaths and 158 cases still active, according to the DIDHD.
Across the Upper Peninsula, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services’ coronavirus data site Wednesday had 86 new confirmed positives: 22 in Delta County, 19 in Marquette County, 13 in Houghton County, 10 in Gogebic County, seven in Menominee County, four in Dickinson and Iron counties, three in Luce County, two in Chippewa County, and one each in Keweenaw and Schoolcraft counties. The state also recorded one new death in Menominee and Delta counties.
In total for the U.P., the MDHHS on Wednesday had Keweenaw County at 68 confirmed cases and 15 probable, and one death and one probable death; Luce County, 125 confirmed cases and 60 probable; Alger County, 177 confirmed, 91 probable and one death, one probable; Schoolcraft County, 188 confirmed cases and 16 probable, two deaths and one probable; Mackinac County, 247 confirmed cases and 109 probable, one death; Ontonagon County, 272 confirmed, 28 probable and 14 deaths, one probable; Baraga County, 452 confirmed cases, 94 probable and 28 deaths; Chippewa County, 470 confirmed cases and 672 probable, and eight deaths, two probable; Gogebic County, 694 confirmed cases and 283 probable, 12 confirmed deaths and 17 probable deaths; Iron County, 738 confirmed cases and 42 probable, 32 confirmed deaths and five probable; Menominee County, 1,343 confirmed cases, 178 probable and 23 deaths; Houghton County, 1,514 confirmed cases, 373 probable, 17 confirmed deaths and six probable; Dickinson County, 1,891 confirmed cases and 154 probable, 52 confirmed deaths and 11 probable; Delta County, 2,418 confirmed cases and 381 probable, 54 confirmed deaths and 13 probable; and Marquette County, 2,992 confirmed cases, 368 probable and 47 deaths, one probable. State numbers are updated daily but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.
Using only the state’s figures Wednesday, the Upper Peninsula has had 13,589 confirmed COVID-19 cases to date and 292 deaths.
The MDHHS on Wednesday reported 4,037 confirmed new COVID-19 cases in Michigan for a total of 446,752 to date. The state added 83 new deaths Wednesday to reach 11,018.
For Wisconsin counties in the region, the state’s COVID-19 data site on Tuesday showed 10 new confirmed cases in Marinette County, five in Forest County, two in Florence County and one in Iron County.
The Wisconsin Department of Health Services on Wednesday had Marinette County with 3,344 confirmed cases, 294 probable cases and 38 deaths; Vilas County, 1,446 confirmed, 44 probable and 19 deaths, two probable deaths; Forest County, 788 confirmed, 53 probable and 20 deaths, two probable; Iron County, 401 confirmed, 94 probable and 10 deaths, seven probable; and Florence County, 382 confirmed, 24 probable and 12 deaths. As with the Michigan data, the state numbers are updated daily but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.
Wisconsin added 2,402 new positives Wednesday for a total of 444,798 confirmed COVID-19 cases. The state added 74 deaths Wednesday to reach 4,196.
