Iron Mountain students receive women in engineering certificates

KENNEDY REATH, LEFT, and Gabrielle Carey hold their certificates of merit from the Michigan Technological University Society of Women Engineers.

IRON MOUNTAIN — Iron Mountain High School senior Kennedy Reath and junior Gabrielle Carey have been nominated by the high school math and science instructors to receive the Michigan Technological University Society of Women Engineers Certificate of Merit.

The purpose of this award is to recognize exceptional female high school students who excel in math and science-related studies. This is a distinguished award acknowledged by many colleges and universities as a great achievement. More than 400 young women from across Michigan and Wisconsin are receiving this well-deserved recognition.

Both students exemplify the qualities of strong academics, active school involvement and outstanding performance in math and sciences. Iron Mountain High School congratulates these fine young women.

Reath is the daughter of Nick Sorensen and Misty Bollone-Sorensen of Iron Mountain and Matt and Kristen Reath of Norway. Carey is the daughter of Daniel and Rhonda Carey of Breitung Township.
