Wisconsin: Three new virus deaths in Marinette County

Wisconsin health officials have reported three new coronavirus-related deaths in Marinette County.

For Wisconsin counties in the region, the state’s COVID-19 data site Thursday and Friday also showed a total of 18 new confirmed positives in Marinette County, 17 in Forest and Vilas counties, and two in Florence and Iron counties.

The Wisconsin Department of Health Services on Friday had Marinette County with 3,546 confirmed cases, 328 probable cases and 45 deaths; Vilas County, 1,604 confirmed, 67 probable and 21 deaths, two probable deaths; Forest County, 857 confirmed, 59 probable and 22 deaths, two probable; Iron County, 419 confirmed, 108 probable and 17 deaths, 16 probable; and Florence County, 398 confirmed, 24 probable and 12 deaths. State numbers are updated daily but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.

Wisconsin added 3,810 new positives Thursday and 1,905 on Friday for a total of 483,007 confirmed COVID-19 cases. The state recorded 41 deaths Thursday and 10 on Friday to reach 4,869.

COVID-19 figures for Upper Peninsula counties were not updated Thursday or Friday due to the New Year’s Day holiday. The next update will be today.

Using only the state’s figures, the Upper Peninsula as of Wednesday has had 14,255 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 324 deaths.

The Dickinson-Iron District Health Department also did not update its figures going into the holiday weekend. The DIDHD on Wednesday listed Dickinson County at 1,990 confirmed positives and 191 probable cases, with 1,678 recovered, 64 deaths and 439 cases still active. For Iron County, the DIDHD showed 771 confirmed cases and 46 probables, with 702 recovered, 34 deaths and 81 still active.
