Local health officials Monday reported another coronavirus-related death in Iron County, even as its number of new confirmed positives rose by only a handful of cases in roughly a week.
In its first update since Tuesday of last week, the Dickinson-Iron District Health Department showed 15 new confirmed COVID-19 cases and 46 recovered cases in Dickinson County, while Iron County had five new cases and 28 recoveries, along with the new fatality.
The DIDHD on Monday had Dickinson County at 2,117 confirmed positives and 238 probable cases, with 2,182 recovered, 67 deaths and 106 cases still active. For Iron County, the DIDHD had 861 confirmed cases and 64 probables, with 819 recovered, 45 deaths and 61 still active.
The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services' COVID-19 data site Monday added only 17 new confirmed virus positives in the Upper Peninsula for the two-day period since Saturday: four in Houghton County; three each in Ontonagon and Gogebic counties; two each in Menominee, Marquette and Delta counties; and one in Iron County.
Across the U.P., the MDHHS data site Monday had Keweenaw County at 104 confirmed cases and 26 probable, and one death and one probable death; Luce County, 131 confirmed cases and 77 probable, one probable death; Schoolcraft County, 229 confirmed cases and 28 probable, four deaths and one probable; Alger County, 275 confirmed, 155 probable and one death, two probable; Mackinac County, 278 confirmed cases and 150 probable, three deaths; Ontonagon County, 348 confirmed, 49 probable and 18 deaths, one probable; Baraga County, 493 confirmed cases, 98 probable and 31 deaths; Chippewa County, 706 confirmed cases and 1,007 probable, and 20 deaths, four probable; Iron County, 859 confirmed cases and 62 probable, 39 confirmed deaths and nine probable; Gogebic County, 876 confirmed cases and 330 probable, 18 confirmed deaths and 27 probable; Menominee County, 1,600 confirmed cases, 256 probable and 34 deaths, two probable; Houghton County, 2,014 confirmed cases, 494 probable, 32 confirmed deaths and seven probable; Dickinson County, 2,113 confirmed cases and 236 probable, 55 confirmed deaths and 14 probable; Delta County, 2,624 confirmed cases and 459 probable, 65 confirmed deaths and 19 probable; and Marquette County, 3,423 confirmed cases, 491 probable and 53 deaths, one probable. State numbers are updated almost daily but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.
Using only the state's figures, the Upper Peninsula as of Monday has had 16,073 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 374 deaths.
The MDHHS on Monday listed 1,769 confirmed new COVID-19 positives in Michigan since Saturday for a total of 569,417. The state added 11 new deaths for the two-day period to reach 14,905.
For Wisconsin counties in the region, the state Department of Health Services' COVID-19 data site Monday had only two new confirmed positives in Marinette County and reduced Vilas County's count by one.
The DHS on Monday had Marinette County with 3,933 confirmed cases, 374 probable cases and 61 deaths, two probable deaths; Vilas County, 2,021 confirmed, 113 probable and 32 deaths, two probable; Forest County, 914 confirmed, 70 probable and 22 deaths, three probable; Iron County, 489 confirmed, 112 probable and 19 deaths, 18 probable; and Florence County, 430 confirmed, 34 probable and 12 deaths. As in Michigan, state numbers are updated daily but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.
Wisconsin added 543 new positives Monday for a total of 550,369 confirmed COVID-19 cases to date. The state posted one new death Monday to reach 6,055.
