Pre-trial conferences ordered for Dickinson defendants

IRON MOUNTAIN — A Kingsford man accused of sexual assault has pleaded not guilty in Dickinson County Circuit Court.

Thomas Loomis, 32, is charged with second-degree criminal sexual conduct, second or subsequent offense, a felony punishable by up to 15 years in prison with a mandatory five-year minimum sentence; and capturing and distributing images of an unclothed person, a five-year penalty.

As a four-time habitual offender, Loomis could serve up to life in prison if convicted.

According to the criminal complaint, Loomis reportedly recorded himself Oct. 7 touching a sleeping woman’s genitalia. He later sent the video to another person, the complaint stated.

In a separate file, Loomis is charged with malicious destruction of property, punishable by up to five years in prison; and larceny, a 93-day misdemeanor.

Loomis is also charged as a four-time habitual offender in the second file.

According to that complaint, Loomis punctured the gas tank of a parked motor vehicle Dec. 26, then reportedly filled a gas can with the leaking fuel.

A pre-trial conference is set for March 15. Bonds are set at $75,000 and $15,000 cash, surety or 10%.

IRON MOUNTAIN — A Norway man accused of selling methamphetamine has pleaded not guilty in Dickinson County Circuit Court.

William Flynn, 30, is charged with the delivery or manufacture of a controlled substance, a felony punishable by up to 20 years in prison.

Flynn is charged as a two-time habitual offender and could spend as many as 30 years in prison if convicted.

Flynn waived arraignment and was not required to appear in court in person. Dickinson County Circuit Judge Mary Barglind enter the not guilty plea on Flynn’s behalf.

According to the criminal complaint, Flynn sold methamphetamine to a confidential informant during a controlled transaction on Aug. 25.

A pre-trial conference is set for March 15.
