State lists only 13 new COVID-19 cases in UP
State health officials Tuesday added only 13 new confirmed coronavirus positives throughout the Upper Peninsula and no new deaths for the region.
The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services’ COVID-19 data site Tuesday showed three new confirmed cases in Houghton County; two in Delta, Gogebic and Baraga counties; and one each in Dickinson, Iron, Menominee, Ontonagon and Luce counties. The state reduced Marquette County’s count by one.
Across the U.P., the MDHHS data site Tuesday had Keweenaw County at 104 confirmed cases and 26 probable, and one death and one probable death; Luce County, 132 confirmed cases and 80 probable, one probable death; Schoolcraft County, 229 confirmed cases and 28 probable, four deaths and one probable; Alger County, 275 confirmed, 156 probable and one death, two probable; Mackinac County, 278 confirmed cases and 150 probable, three deaths; Ontonagon County, 349 confirmed, 49 probable and 18 deaths, one probable; Baraga County, 495 confirmed cases, 98 probable and 31 deaths; Chippewa County, 706 confirmed cases and 1,010 probable, and 20 deaths, four probable; Iron County, 860 confirmed cases and 62 probable, 39 confirmed deaths and nine probable; Gogebic County, 878 confirmed cases and 330 probable, 18 confirmed deaths and 27 probable; Menominee County, 1,601 confirmed cases, 256 probable and 34 deaths, two probable; Houghton County, 2,017 confirmed cases, 500 probable, 32 confirmed deaths and seven probable; Dickinson County, 2,114 confirmed cases and 236 probable, 55 confirmed deaths and 14 probable; Delta County, 2,626 confirmed cases and 461 probable, 65 confirmed deaths and 19 probable; and Marquette County, 3,422 confirmed cases, 492 probable and 53 deaths, one probable. State numbers are updated almost daily but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.
Using only the state’s figures, the Upper Peninsula as of Tuesday has had 16,086 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 374 deaths.
The MDHHS on Tuesday listed 563 confirmed new COVID-19 positives in Michigan for a total of 569,980. The state added 60 new deaths Tuesday — including 31 that happened earlier but recently were verified through vital records and testing, according to the MDHHS — to reach 14,965.
For Wisconsin counties in the region, the state Department of Health Services’ COVID-19 data site Tuesday had eight new confirmed positives in Iron County, seven in Vilas County — with three new deaths as well — and four in Marinette County.
The DHS on Tuesday had Marinette County with 3,937 confirmed cases, 374 probable cases and 61 deaths, two probable deaths; Vilas County, 2,028 confirmed, 113 probable and 35 deaths, two probable; Forest County, 914 confirmed, 70 probable and 22 deaths, three probable; Iron County, 497 confirmed, 112 probable and 19 deaths, 18 probable; and Florence County, 430 confirmed, 34 probable and 12 deaths. As in Michigan, state numbers are updated daily but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.
Wisconsin added 681 new positives Tuesday for a total of 551,050 confirmed COVID-19 cases to date. The state posted 39 new deaths Tuesday to reach 6,094.
The Dickinson-Iron District Health Department did not update local figures Tuesday. The DIDHD on Monday had Dickinson County at 2,117 confirmed positives and 238 probable cases, with 2,182 recovered, 67 deaths and 106 cases still active. For Iron County, the DIDHD had 861 confirmed cases and 64 probables, with 819 recovered, 45 deaths and 61 still active.
