Both Michigan's Iron County and Marinette County in Wisconsin recorded new coronavirus-related deaths Tuesday, according to health officials.
For Iron County, it's the 10th new fatal case since mid-January.
The Dickinson-Iron District Health Department on Tuesday showed only two new confirmed COVID-19 positives in each county. Both counties each had one recovered case as well.
The DIDHD on Tuesday had Dickinson County at 2,102 confirmed positives and 238 probable cases, with 2,136 recovered, 67 deaths and 137 cases still active. For Iron County, the DIDHD had 856 confirmed cases and 64 probables, with 791 recovered, 44 deaths and 85 still active.
Across the Upper Peninsula, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services' COVID-19 data site Tuesday showed 12 new confirmed virus positives: four in Chippewa County, three in Houghton County, two in Dickinson and Iron counties, and one each in Menominee and Schoolcraft counties; the state reduced Gogebic County's count by one. The MDHHS data did not reflect any new deaths in the region.
Across the U.P., the MDHHS data site Tuesday listed Keweenaw County at 105 confirmed cases and 26 probable, and one death and one probable death; Luce County, 130 confirmed cases and 74 probable, one probable death; Schoolcraft County, 227 confirmed cases and 24 probable, four deaths and one probable; Alger County, 272 confirmed, 153 probable and one death, two probable; Mackinac County, 278 confirmed cases and 146 probable, three deaths; Ontonagon County, 335 confirmed, 45 probable and 17 deaths, one probable; Baraga County, 487 confirmed cases, 92 probable and 31 deaths; Chippewa County, 701 confirmed cases and 1,008 probable, and 20 deaths, four probable; Iron County, 854 confirmed cases and 62 probable, 39 confirmed deaths
and eight probable; Gogebic County, 855 confirmed cases and 326 probable, 17 confirmed deaths and 27 probable; Menominee County, 1,593 confirmed cases, 256 probable and 33 deaths, two probable; Houghton County, 1,998 confirmed cases, 484 probable, 32 confirmed deaths and seven probable; Dickinson County, 2,098 confirmed cases and 236 probable, 55 confirmed deaths and 14 probable; Delta County, 2,615 confirmed cases and 458 probable, 63 confirmed deaths and 19 probable; and Marquette County, 3,407 confirmed cases, 489 probable and 53 deaths, one probable. State numbers are updated almost daily but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.
Using only the state's figures, the Upper Peninsula as of Tuesday has had 15,955 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 369 deaths.
The MDHHS on Tuesday listed 1,203 confirmed new COVID-19 positives in Michigan for a total of 562,510. The state added 63 new deaths – including 36 that happened earlier but recently were verified through vital records and testing, according to the MDHHS – to reach 14,672.
For Wisconsin counties in the region, the state Department of Health Services' COVID-19 data site Tuesday had eight new confirmed positives in Marinette County along with the new death, four in Vilas County and two in Forest County.
The DHS on Tuesday had Marinette County with 3,912 confirmed cases, 373 probable cases and 61 deaths, two probable deaths; Vilas County, 1,968 confirmed, 109 probable and 32 deaths, two probable; Forest County, 914 confirmed, 69 probable and 22 deaths, three probable; Iron County, 476 confirmed, 112 probable and 19 deaths, 18 probable; and Florence County, 426 confirmed, 35 probable and 12 deaths. As in Michigan, state numbers are updated daily but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.
Wisconsin added 1,095 new positives Tuesday for a total of 544,260 confirmed COVID-19 cases to date. The state listed 40 new deaths Tuesday to reach 5,937.
