Eighteen new virus cases in UP
State data Wednesday showed 18 new confirmed COVID-19 positives in the Upper Peninsula.
The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services’ coronavirus website Wednesday listed four new confirmed cases in Houghton County; three in Delta, Menominee, Marquette and Gogebic counties; and one each in Baraga and Chippewa counties. No new deaths were reported.
Using only the state’s figures, the Upper Peninsula as of Wednesday has had 16,557 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 387 deaths.
Across the U.P., the MDHHS data site Wednesday had Keweenaw County at 116 confirmed cases and 29 probable, and one death and one probable death; Luce County, 132 confirmed cases and 103 probable, one probable death; Schoolcraft County, 232 confirmed cases and 32 probable, four deaths and one probable; Alger County, 279 confirmed, 157 probable and one death, four probable; Mackinac County, 294 confirmed cases and 155 probable, three deaths; Ontonagon County, 362 confirmed, 56 probable and 19 deaths, one probable; Baraga County, 510 confirmed cases, 99 probable and 32 deaths; Chippewa County, 734 confirmed cases and 1,045 probable, and 23 deaths, four probable; Iron County, 866 confirmed cases and 61 probable, 40 confirmed deaths and nine probable; Gogebic County, 948 confirmed cases and 346 probable, 20 confirmed deaths and 28 probable; Menominee County, 1,627 confirmed cases, 264 probable and 36 deaths, two probable; Dickinson County, 2,136 confirmed cases and 240 probable, 55 confirmed deaths and 15 probable; Houghton County, 2,159 confirmed cases, 535 probable, 32 confirmed deaths and eight probable; Delta County, 2,683 confirmed cases and 486 probable, 66 confirmed deaths and 19 probable; and Marquette County, 3,479 confirmed cases, 514 probable and 55 deaths, one probable. State numbers are updated almost daily but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.
The MDHHS on Wednesday posted 2,316 confirmed new coronavirus positives in Michigan for a total of 601,284. The state added seven new deaths Wednesday to reach 15,706.
For Wisconsin counties in the region, the state Department of Health Services’ COVID-19 data site Wednesday had four new confirmed positives in Marinette County; and one each in Florence, Vilas and Iron counties.
The DHS on Wednesday had Marinette County with 3,977 confirmed cases, 403 probable cases and 63 deaths, three probable deaths; Vilas County, 2,161 confirmed, 124 probable and 38 deaths, two probable; Forest County, 926 confirmed, 70 probable and 23 deaths, three probable; Iron County, 554 confirmed, 119 probable and 21 deaths, 19 probable; and Florence County, 422 confirmed, 47 probable and 12 deaths. As in Michigan, state numbers are updated daily but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.
Wisconsin added 516 new positives Wednesday for a total of 567,850 confirmed COVID-19 cases to date. The state recorded 14 new deaths Wednesday to reach 6,524.
