Florence encourages vaccine sign-up

FLORENCE, Wis. — Staff at the Florence County Public Health Department encourages members of the public to sign up for their COVID-19 vaccine when they are eligible.

“We have been receiving the Pfizer vaccine, which is 95% effective in preventing the disease completely and will lessen the disease if you would get it,” a spokesperson for the Florence County Health Department said.

COVID-19 vaccine currently is available for sign-up through a link to eligible populations including health care personnel, fire, sheriff, EMS, corrections, child and adult protective workers, educators, daycare, essential workers and anyone older than 65 years of age.

Individuals must live in Wisconsin to receive the vaccine at this time. A link is posted each week on the health department website and Facebook page so individuals can schedule their own appointment online.

Those who do not have a computer or smart phone access and are older than 65 or have a disability can call the Aging and Disability Resource Center at 715-528-4890 for assistance in scheduling an appointment.

The number of appointments available each week is based on the quantity of vaccine supplied from the state.

Public health will provide more information about vaccine availability. People are encouraged to stay up to date by going to the Florence County Health Facebook page: @FlorenceCountyHealthDept; or the webpage at www.florencewipublichealth.com.
