New cases in Dickinson, Menominee, Marinette counties

State data this weekend showed two new confirmed COVID-19 positives in Dickinson, Menominee and Marinette counties.

For the Upper Peninsula, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services’ coronavirus website Saturday listed a total of 30 new confirmed positives: seven in Delta and Houghton counties; four in Marquette County; three in Chippewa County; two in Dickinson, Menominee, Mackinac and Luce counties; and one each in Ontonagon and Gogebic counties; Keweenaw County’s count was reduced by one.

Using only the state’s figures, the Upper Peninsula as of Saturday has had 17,071 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 397 deaths.

Across the U.P., the MDHHS data site Saturday had Keweenaw County at 124 confirmed cases and 31 probable, and one death and one probable death; Luce County, 137 confirmed cases and 112 probable, one probable death; Schoolcraft County, 242 confirmed cases and 38 probable, four deaths and one probable; Alger County, 284 confirmed, 160 probable and one death, four probable; Mackinac County, 312 confirmed cases and 168 probable, three deaths; Ontonagon County, 375 confirmed, 56 probable and 20 deaths, one probable; Baraga County, 517 confirmed cases, 106 probable and 33 deaths; Chippewa County, 830 confirmed cases and 1,133 probable, and 25 deaths, five probable; Iron County, 872 confirmed cases and 61 probable, 42 confirmed deaths and nine probable; Gogebic County, 963 confirmed cases and 357 probable, 21 confirmed deaths and 28 probable; Menominee County, 1,648 confirmed cases, 275 probable and 39 deaths, two probable; Dickinson County, 2,176 confirmed cases and 250 probable, 55 confirmed deaths and 16 probable; Houghton County, 2,256 confirmed cases, 551 probable, 31 confirmed deaths and eight probable; Delta County, 2,757 confirmed cases and 510 probable, 67 confirmed deaths and 19 probable; and Marquette County, 3,578 confirmed cases, 589 probable and 55 deaths, one probable. State numbers are updated almost daily but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.

The MDHHS on Saturday posted 4,670 confirmed new coronavirus positives in Michigan for a total of 652,569. The state added 22 new deaths Saturday — including 29 that happened earlier but recently were verified through vital records and testing, according to the MDHHS, somewhat offset by adjustments made by local health officials — to reach 16,026.

The state no longer updates figures on Sunday.

For Wisconsin counties in the region, the state Department of Health Services’ COVID-19 data site this weekend had two new confirmed positives in Marinette County and one new case each in Florence and Iron counties.

The DHS on Sunday had Marinette County with 3,999 confirmed cases, 411 probable cases and 65 deaths, three probable deaths; Vilas County, 2,186 confirmed, 142 probable and 39 deaths, two probable; Forest County, 935 confirmed, 71 probable and 23 deaths, three probable; Iron County, 565 confirmed, 118 probable and 21 deaths, 19 probable; and Florence County, 430 confirmed, 50 probable and 12 deaths. As in Michigan, state numbers are updated daily but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.

Wisconsin added 450 new positives Saturday and 428 Sunday for a total of 575,748 confirmed COVID-19 cases to date. The state had only one new death Saturday and none Sunday for a total of 6,598.
