New virus deaths in Iron and Dickinson counties
Dickinson also adds 10 more positives
Local health officials Thursday reported a new coronavirus-related death in both Dickinson and Iron counties.
In a Facebook post Thursday afternoon, the Dickinson-Iron District Health Department also had 10 new confirmed COVID-19 positives in Dickinson County since its last update Monday, along with two probable cases. Iron County had one new confirmed positive.
The DIDHD on Thursday had Dickinson County at 2,159 confirmed positives and 250 probable cases, with 2,297 recovered, 69 deaths and 43 cases still active. For Iron County, the DIDHD had 869 confirmed cases and 64 probables, with 883 recovered, 47 deaths and three active cases.
The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services’ coronavirus website Thursday listed a total of 27 new confirmed cases in the Upper Peninsula: 10 in Houghton County, six in Marquette County, five in Chippewa County, three in both Delta and Menominee counties, and one each in Iron and Gogebic counties; Baraga and Dickinson counties’ counts were reduced by one. New deaths were added in Iron and Menominee counties.
Using only the state’s figures, the Upper Peninsula as of Thursday has had 16,717 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 393 deaths.
Across the U.P., the MDHHS data site Thursday had Keweenaw County at 121 confirmed cases and 30 probable, and one death and one probable death; Luce County, 133 confirmed cases and 107 probable, one probable death; Schoolcraft County, 235 confirmed cases and 36 probable, four deaths and one probable; Alger County, 280 confirmed, 158 probable and one death, four probable; Mackinac County, 297 confirmed cases and 156 probable, three deaths; Ontonagon County, 367 confirmed, 56 probable and 20 deaths, one probable; Baraga County, 512 confirmed cases, 103 probable and 33 deaths; Chippewa County, 755 confirmed cases and 1,062 probable, and 24 deaths, four probable; Iron County, 868 confirmed cases and 60 probable, 41 confirmed deaths and nine probable; Gogebic County, 952 confirmed cases and 351 probable, 21 confirmed deaths and 28 probable; Menominee County, 1,634 confirmed cases, 272 probable and 38 deaths, two probable; Dickinson County, 2,152 confirmed cases and 247 probable, 55 confirmed deaths and 16 probable; Houghton County, 2,190 confirmed cases, 546 probable, 31 confirmed deaths and eight probable; Delta County, 2,713 confirmed cases and 497 probable, 66 confirmed deaths and 19 probable; and Marquette County, 3,508 confirmed cases, 544 probable and 55 deaths, one probable. State numbers are updated almost daily but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.
The MDHHS on Thursday posted 2,629 confirmed new coronavirus positives in Michigan for a total of 618,421. The state added 25 new deaths Thursday — including 24 that happened earlier but recently were verified through vital records and testing, according to the MDHHS — to reach 15,835.
For Wisconsin counties in the region, the state Department of Health Services’ COVID-19 data site Thursday had no change in case numbers.
The DHS on Thursday had Marinette County with 3,984 confirmed cases, 407 probable cases and 64 deaths, three probable deaths; Vilas County, 2,173 confirmed, 134 probable and 38 deaths, two probable; Forest County, 934 confirmed, 72 probable and 23 deaths, three probable; Iron County, 557 confirmed, 119 probable and 21 deaths, 19 probable; and Florence County, 424 confirmed, 49 probable and 12 deaths. As in Michigan, state numbers are updated daily but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.
Wisconsin added 490 new positives Thursday for a total of 571,220 confirmed COVID-19 cases to date. The state recorded two new deaths Thursday to reach 6,556.
