Not guilty plea entered for Ishpeming woman

IRON MOUNTAIN — An Ishpeming woman accused of having methamphetamine pleaded not guilty Tuesday in Dickinson County Circuit Court.

Shannon Magnuson, 41, is charged with the possession of a controlled substance, a felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison.

Magnuson is charged as a four-time habitual offender and could spend up to life in prison if convicted.

Magnuson waived arraignment and was not expected to appear in court in person. The not guilty plea was entered on her behalf by Dickinson County Circuit Judge Mary Barglind.

According to the criminal complaint, Magnuson was a passenger in a vehicle Michigan State Police stopped Feb. 1 in Sagola Township and reportedly admitted a small plastic bag of methamphetamine on the floor belonged to her.

A pre-trial conference is set for April 19.
