State: UP has 67 new coronavirus positives

State COVID-19 data Monday showed five new confirmed COVID-19 positives in Iron County and three in Dickinson County since Saturday.

For the Upper Peninsula, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services’ coronavirus website Monday listed a total of 67 new confirmed positives since the state’s last update Saturday: 16 in Marquette County, 13 in Delta County, 10 in Chippewa County, seven in Houghton County, five in Iron County, four in Mackinac County, three each in Dickinson and Schoolcraft counties, two each in Menominee and Gogebic counties, and one each in Keweenaw and Luce counties.

Using only the state’s figures, the Upper Peninsula as of Monday has had 17,138 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 397 deaths.

Across the U.P., the MDHHS data site Monday had Keweenaw County at 125 confirmed cases and 31 probable, and one death and one probable death; Luce County, 138 confirmed cases and 116 probable, one probable death; Schoolcraft County, 245 confirmed cases and 39 probable, four deaths and one probable; Alger County, 284 confirmed, 161 probable and one death, four probable; Mackinac County, 316 confirmed cases and 169 probable, three deaths; Ontonagon County, 375 confirmed, 56 probable and 20 deaths, one probable; Baraga County, 517 confirmed cases, 107 probable and 33 deaths; Chippewa County, 840 confirmed cases and 1,136 probable, and 25 deaths, five probable; Iron County, 877 confirmed cases and 61 probable, 42 confirmed deaths and nine probable; Gogebic County, 965 confirmed cases and 359 probable, 21 confirmed deaths and 28 probable; Menominee County, 1,650 confirmed cases, 275 probable and 39 deaths, two probable; Dickinson County, 2,179 confirmed cases and 251 probable, 55 confirmed deaths and 16 probable; Houghton County, 2,263 confirmed cases, 551 probable, 31 confirmed deaths and eight probable; Delta County, 2,770 confirmed cases and 509 probable, 67 confirmed deaths and 19 probable; and Marquette County, 3,594 confirmed cases, 602 probable and 55 deaths, one probable. State numbers are updated almost daily but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.

The MDHHS on Monday posted 8,202 confirmed new coronavirus positives in Michigan since Saturday for a total of 660,771. The state added eight new deaths Monday to reach 16,034.

For Wisconsin counties in the region, the state Department of Health Services’ COVID-19 data site Monday had only two new confirmed positives, both in Vilas County.

The DHS on Monday had Marinette County with 3,999 confirmed cases, 411 probable cases and 65 deaths, three probable deaths; Vilas County, 2,188 confirmed, 142 probable and 39 deaths, two probable; Forest County, 935 confirmed, 71 probable and 23 deaths, three probable; Iron County, 565 confirmed, 118 probable and 21 deaths, 19 probable; and Florence County, 430 confirmed, 50 probable and 12 deaths. As in Michigan, state numbers are updated daily but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.

Wisconsin added 296 new positives Monday for a total of 576,044 confirmed COVID-19 cases to date. The state had three new deaths Monday for a total of 6,601.
