Three new COVID positives in Dickinson

Local health officials Monday reported three new confirmed COVID-19 positives in Dickinson County and no new cases in Iron County.

Dickinson County also had eight residents considered recovered from the virus since the Dickinson-Iron District Health Department last updated its figures Thursday. Iron County had five recoveries, leaving nine active cases in the county.

The DIDHD on Monday had Dickinson County at 2,142 confirmed positives and 241 probable cases, with 2,287 recovered, 68 deaths and 28 cases still active. For Iron County, the DIDHD had 868 confirmed cases and 64 probables, with 877 recovered, 46 deaths and nine active.

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services’ COVID-19 data site Monday showed a total of 23 new confirmed cases in the Upper Peninsula since its last update Saturday: Six each in Delta and Houghton counties; three each in Dickinson, Menominee and Ontonagon counties; two in Marquette County; and one in Gogebic County; Iron County’s count was reduced by one.

Using only the state’s figures, the Upper Peninsula as of Monday has had 16,532 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 387 deaths.

Across the U.P., the MDHHS data site Monday had Keweenaw County at 116 confirmed cases and 29 probable, and one death and one probable death; Luce County, 132 confirmed cases and 99 probable, one probable death; Schoolcraft County, 232 confirmed cases and 28 probable, four deaths and one probable; Alger County, 279 confirmed, 157 probable and one death, four probable; Mackinac County, 294 confirmed cases and 154 probable, three deaths; Ontonagon County, 362 confirmed, 54 probable and 19 deaths, one probable; Baraga County, 507 confirmed cases, 99 probable and 32 deaths; Chippewa County, 733 confirmed cases and 1,041 probable, and 23 deaths, four probable; Iron County, 866 confirmed cases and 62 probable, 40 confirmed deaths and nine probable; Gogebic County, 944 confirmed cases and 346 probable, 20 confirmed deaths and 28 probable; Menominee County, 1,622 confirmed cases, 263 probable and 36 deaths, two probable; Dickinson County, 2,136 confirmed cases and 240 probable, 55 confirmed deaths and 15 probable; Houghton County, 2,155 confirmed cases, 537 probable, 32 confirmed deaths and eight probable; Delta County, 2,679 confirmed cases and 483 probable, 66 confirmed deaths and 19 probable; and Marquette County, 3,475 confirmed cases, 506 probable and 55 deaths, one probable. State numbers are updated almost daily but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.

The MDHHS on Monday posted 1,960 confirmed new coronavirus positives in Michigan since its last update Saturday for a total of 598,014. The state added four new deaths since Saturday to reach 15,670.

Information could not be accessed Monday for Wisconsin counties in the region at the state Department of Health Services’ COVID-19 data site.

According to the Associated Press, Wisconsin added 178 new positives Monday for a total of 566,871 confirmed COVID-19 cases to date. The state recorded no new deaths Monday to remain at 6,481.

The DHS on Sunday had Marinette County with 3,970 confirmed cases, 404 probable cases and 63 deaths, three probable deaths; Vilas County, 2,156 confirmed, 125 probable and 38 deaths, two probable; Forest County, 925 confirmed, 69 probable and 23 deaths, three probable; Iron County, 552 confirmed, 120 probable and 21 deaths, 19 probable; and Florence County, 422 confirmed, 47 probable and 12 deaths. As in Michigan, state numbers are updated daily but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.
