A dozen new virus cases in Dickinson, five in Iron

Local health officials Tuesday reported 12 new confirmed COVID-19 positives in Dickinson County since Thursday and five new cases in Iron County.

In a Facebook post Tuesday morning, the Dickinson-Iron District Health Department also showed three new probable cases and three recoveries in Dickinson County, while Iron County had one recovered case.

The DIDHD had Dickinson County at 2,217 confirmed positives and 262 probable cases, with 2,314 recovered, 69 deaths and 96 cases still active. For Iron County, the DIDHD had 888 confirmed cases and 64 probables, with 884 recovered, 48 deaths and 20 active cases.

For the Upper Peninsula, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services’ coronavirus website Tuesday listed 43 new confirmed cases: 11 in Delta County; 10 in Marquette County; four in both Chippewa and Houghton counties; three in both Dickinson and Luce counties; two in both Menominee and Mackinac counties; and one each in Schoolcraft, Alger, Keweenaw and Gogebic counties.

Using only the state’s figures, the Upper Peninsula as of Tuesday has had 17,529 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 400 deaths.

Across the U.P., the MDHHS data site Tuesday had Keweenaw County at 125 confirmed cases and 31 probable, and one confirmed death and one probable death; Luce County, 147 confirmed cases and 134 probable, one probable death; Schoolcraft County, 268 confirmed cases and 50 probable, four deaths and one probable; Alger County, 292 confirmed, 167 probable and one death, four probable; Mackinac County, 327 confirmed cases and 175 probable, three deaths; Ontonagon County, 377 confirmed, 56 probable and 20 deaths, one probable; Baraga County, 520 confirmed cases, 107 probable and 33 deaths; Iron County, 886 confirmed cases and 61 probable, 42 deaths and nine probable; Chippewa County, 895 confirmed cases and 1,213 probable, and 25 deaths, five probable; Gogebic County, 974 confirmed cases and 357 probable, 22 deaths and 28 probable; Menominee County, 1,663 confirmed cases, 285 probable and 39 deaths, two probable; Dickinson County, 2,214 confirmed cases and 262 probable, 55 deaths and 16 probable; Houghton County, 2,308 confirmed cases, 567 probable, 32 deaths and eight probable; Delta County, 2,844 confirmed cases and 531 probable, 68 deaths and 19 probable; and Marquette County, 3,689 confirmed cases, 651 probable and 55 deaths, one probable. State numbers are updated almost daily but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.

The MDHHS on Tuesday posted 4,964 confirmed new coronavirus positives in Michigan for a total of 707,463. The state added 58 new deaths — including 16 that happened earlier but recently were verified through vital records and testing, according to the MDHHS — to reach 16,297.

In Wisconsin, the state Department of Health Services’ COVID-19 data site Tuesday had three new confirmed positives in Marinette County, two in Florence County and one each in Forest and Iron counties.

The DHS on Tuesday had Marinette County with 4,013 confirmed cases, 419 probable cases and 65 deaths, three probable deaths; Vilas County, 2,197 confirmed, 142 probable and 39 deaths, two probable; Forest County, 938 confirmed, 74 probable and 23 deaths, three probable; Iron County, 570 confirmed, 117 probable and 21 deaths, 19 probable; and Florence County, 432 confirmed, 50 probable and 12 deaths. As in Michigan, state numbers are updated daily but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.

Wisconsin added 886 new positives Tuesday for a total of 581,070 confirmed COVID-19 cases to date. The state listed eight new deaths Tuesday for a total of 6,648.
