DIDHD: 14 more virus positives in Dickinson, 11 in Iron

Local health officials Monday reported 14 more confirmed COVID-19 positives in Dickinson County and 11 in Iron County since its last update Thursday.

In a Facebook post Monday afternoon, the Dickinson-Iron District Health Department also listed six new probable cases in Dickinson County and 12 recovered cases, while Iron County had one recovery.

The agency had Dickinson County at 2,315 confirmed positives and 296 probable cases, with 2,339 recovered, 71 deaths and 201 cases still active. For Iron County, the DIDHD had 914 confirmed cases and 65 probables, with 885 recovered, 48 deaths and 46 active cases.

For the Upper Peninsula, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services’ coronavirus website Monday listed 85 new confirmed cases since its last update Saturday: 25 in Delta and Marquette counties; seven in Chippewa County; five in Dickinson, Menominee and Houghton counties; three in Iron and Baraga counties; two in Luce and Ontonagon counties; and one each in Alger, Mackinac and Gogebic counties.The only new death was in Alger County.

Using only the state’s figures, the Upper Peninsula as of Monday has had 18,486 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 405 deaths.

Across the U.P., the MDHHS data site Monday had Keweenaw County at 136 confirmed cases and 31 probable, and one confirmed death and one probable death; Luce County, 162 confirmed cases and 160 probable, one probable death; Schoolcraft County, 275 confirmed cases and 50 probable, four deaths and one probable; Alger County, 300 confirmed, 182 probable and two deaths, four probable; Mackinac County, 365 confirmed cases and 216 probable, three deaths; Ontonagon County, 390 confirmed, 56 probable and 20 deaths, one probable; Baraga County, 536 confirmed cases, 111 probable and 33 deaths; Iron County, 912 confirmed cases and 62 probable, 42 deaths and nine probable; Chippewa County, 976 confirmed cases and 1,291 probable, and 27 deaths, five probable; Gogebic County, 995 confirmed cases and 358 probable, 22 deaths and 28 probable; Menominee County, 1,707 confirmed cases, 303 probable and 39 deaths, two probable; Dickinson County, 2,310 confirmed cases and 292 probable, 56 deaths and 16 probable; Houghton County, 2,399 confirmed cases, 587 probable, 32 deaths and eight probable; Delta County, 3,066 confirmed cases and 567 probable, 68 deaths and 19 probable; and Marquette County, 3,957 confirmed cases, 733 probable and 56 deaths, one probable. State numbers are updated almost daily but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.

The MDHHS on Monday posted 8,574 confirmed new coronavirus positives in Michigan since Saturday for a total to date of 793,881. The state recorded 61 deaths attributed to the virus for the two-day period to reach 16,901.

For Wisconsin counties in the region, the state Department of Health Services’ COVID-19 data site Monday had only one new confirmed positive, in Vilas County.

The DHS on Monday had Marinette County with 4,048 confirmed cases, 430 probable cases and 65 deaths, three probable deaths; Vilas County, 2,222 confirmed, 144 probable and 39 deaths, two probable; Forest County, 945 confirmed, 77 probable and 23 deaths, three probable; Iron County, 571 confirmed, 117 probable and 21 deaths, 19 probable; and Florence County, 442 confirmed, 53 probable and 12 deaths. As in Michigan, state numbers are updated daily but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.

Wisconsin added 373 new positives Monday for a total of 590,831 confirmed COVID-19 cases to date. The state listed only one new death Monday to reach 6,710.
