Niagara acquires iPads, moves prom off-campus
NIAGARA, Wis. — The Niagara School Board has approved the purchase of 35 iPads and storage cart from Apple for $18,864.
The iPads will be used in the school library and can be accessed by classes mainly in the lower grades.
In other recent business, the board heard that the district plans to hold prom at the St. Anthony Church Hall in Niagara.
The event is being spearheaded by teacher Ginger Anderson. She planned to put a deposit on the church with her own money, but then received donations toward it. She said there has been a lot of community support both financially and people offering to volunteer to help.
Being able to have it off-campus will allow the district to keep in place its restrictions against having people from other districts in the building. Students from other schools would be allow to attend as dates of Niagara students.
In other action, the board:
— Approved a wrestling co-op with Florence for the next two years. About three students have been involved in the sport.
— Tabled approval of a Costa Rica service trip until they can get more information on the students attending and have a better gauge on the COVID-19 situation.
— Approved the resignation of Hayden Haslow as a paraprofessional. He is a Bay College student and will be applying for internships.
— Learned Family Literacy Night has been done virtually.
— Scheduled a finance committee meeting for April 14.
— Learned 18 juniors and seniors toured the campuses of the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay and the Northeast Wisconsin Technical College.
