State: Eight new virus cases in Iron County
State data Wednesday showed eight more confirmed COVID-19 positives in Iron County, while Dickinson County gained two.
For the Upper Peninsula, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services’ coronavirus website Wednesday had 63 new confirmed positives: 17 in Delta County; eight in Iron County; six in Houghton County; five in Menominee, Marquette, Chippewa and Baraga counties; three in Schoolcraft and Mackinac counties; two in Dickinson County; and one each in Luce, Gogebic, Ontonagon and Keweenaw counties. No new deaths were recorded for the U.P.
Using only the state’s figures, the Upper Peninsula as of Wednesday has had 18,973 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 409 deaths.
Across the U.P., the MDHHS data site Wednesday had Keweenaw County at 141 confirmed cases and 31 probable, and one confirmed death and one probable death; Luce County, 174 confirmed cases and 176 probable, one confirmed death and one probable death; Schoolcraft County, 293 confirmed cases and 58 probable, four deaths and one probable; Alger County, 307 confirmed, 187 probable and two deaths, four probable; Mackinac County, 389 confirmed cases and 224 probable, three deaths; Ontonagon County, 397 confirmed, 56 probable and 20 deaths, one probable; Baraga County, 561 confirmed cases, 113 probable and 33 deaths; Iron County, 932 confirmed ontinued from 1-A)
cases and 65 probable, 42 deaths and nine probable; Gogebic County, 1,001 confirmed cases and 360 probable, 22 deaths and 28 probable; Chippewa County, 1,017 confirmed cases and 1,336 probable, and 27 deaths, five probable; Menominee County, 1,733 confirmed cases, 312 probable and 39 deaths, two probable; Dickinson County, 2,343 confirmed cases and 315 probable, 57 deaths and 16 probable; Houghton County, 2,433 confirmed cases, 594 probable, 32 deaths and eight probable; Delta County, 3,182 confirmed cases and 631 probable, 69 deaths and 19 probable; and Marquette County, 4,070 confirmed cases, 781 probable and 57 deaths, one probable. The MDHHS on Wednesday posted 4,371 confirmed new coronavirus positives in Michigan for a total to date of 833,891. The state Wednesday recorded 38 deaths attributed to the virus to reach 17,467.
For Wisconsin counties in the region, the state Department of Health Services’ COVID-19 data site Wednesday had 10 new confirmed positives in Marinette and Vilas counties and one in Forest County.
The DHS on Wednesday had Marinette County with 4,101 confirmed cases, 440 probable cases and 66 deaths, three probable deaths; Vilas County, 2,234 confirmed, 145 probable and 40 deaths, two probable; Forest County, 950 confirmed, 77 probable and 23 deaths, three probable; Iron County, 574 confirmed, 117 probable and 21 deaths, 19 probable; and Florence County, 442 confirmed, 55 probable and 12 deaths. As in Michigan, state numbers are updated daily but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.
Wisconsin added 688 new positives Wednesday for a total of 596,552 confirmed COVID-19 cases to date. The state listed 34 new deaths Wednesday to reach 6,807.
