State lists 105 more COVID-19 cases in UP

Dickinson County adds 21 positives

State COVID-19 data Tuesday added 105 new confirmed COVID-19 positives in the Upper Peninsula — including 21 in Dickinson County — as the region topped 18,000 cases to date.

Among the Upper Peninsula’s 15 counties, only Ontonagon did not record a new case Tuesday, according to the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services’ coronavirus website.

For the Upper Peninsula, the MDHHS site Tuesday had 26 new confirmed cases in Marquette County; 21 in Dickinson County; 15 in Delta County; 13 in Chippewa County; 12 in Houghton County; nine in Menominee County; two in Alger County; and one each in Schoolcraft, Iron, Luce, Baraga, Keweenaw, Mackinac and Gogebic counties.

Using only the state’s figures, the Upper Peninsula as of Tuesday has had 18,033 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 402 deaths.

Across the U.P., the MDHHS data site Tuesday had Keweenaw County at 132 confirmed cases and 31 probable, and one confirmed death and one probable death; Luce County, 151 confirmed cases and 150 probable, one probable

death; Schoolcraft County, 273 confirmed cases and 50 probable, four deaths and one probable; Alger County, 297 confirmed, 178 probable and one death, four probable; Mackinac County, 351 confirmed cases and 208 probable, three deaths; Ontonagon County, 380 confirmed, 56 probable and 20 deaths, one probable; Baraga County, 526 confirmed cases, 110 probable and 33 deaths; Iron County, 895 confirmed cases and 63 probable, 42 deaths and nine probable; Chippewa County, 941 confirmed cases and 1,264 probable, and 26 deaths, five probable; Gogebic County, 985 confirmed cases and 357 probable, 22 deaths and 28 probable; Menominee County, 1,684 confirmed cases, 291 probable and 39 deaths, two probable; Dickinson County, 2,268 confirmed cases and 283 probable, 55 deaths and 16 probable; Houghton County, 2,364 confirmed cases, 576 probable, 32 deaths and eight probable; Delta County, 2,944 confirmed cases and 557 probable, 68 deaths and 19 probable; and Marquette County, 3,842 confirmed cases, 718 probable and 56 deaths, one probable. State numbers are updated almost daily but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.

The MDHHS on Tuesday posted 8,867 confirmed new coronavirus positives in Michigan for a total of 756,564. The state added 74 deaths — including 37 that happened earlier but recently were verified through vital records and testing, according to the MDHHS — to reach 16,586.

In Wisconsin, the state Department of Health Services’ COVID-19 data site Tuesday had nine new confirmed positives in Marinette County, three in Vilas County, two in both Florence and Forest counties, and one in Iron County.

The DHS on Tuesday had Marinette County with 4,034 confirmed cases, 426 probable cases and 65 deaths, three probable deaths; Vilas County, 2,213 confirmed, 144 probable and 39 deaths, two probable; Forest County, 944 confirmed, 75 probable and 23 deaths, three probable; Iron County, 571 confirmed, 117 probable and 21 deaths, 19 probable; and Florence County, 438 confirmed, 51 probable and 12 deaths. As in Michigan, state numbers are updated daily but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.

Wisconsin added 922 new positives Tuesday for a total of 586,632 confirmed COVID-19 cases to date. The state listed 10 new deaths Tuesday to reach 6,690.
